Tsali Recreation area offers lake access and camping. But they are known for the world famous Mountain Biking trails with Spectacular views of Fontana Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains. More Info
Wayehutta is a 28-mile loop trail system using old logging roads and rail beds. The trails are in the Roy Taylor Forest near Cullowhee, about a half-hour from downtown Bryson City. More Info
One of the more popular things to do in the Summer is tubing. Kids and adults alike can be seen floating down the cool mountain waters in Deep Creek or the Oconaluftee River in Cherokee. There are several places to rent tubes at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance to Deep Creek as well as Smoky Mountain Tube and Raft in Cherokee.
A nice ropes and adventure course at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. You can get more info at NOC.com or take a drive into the Nantahala Gorge it's beautiful!
Or some great adventure be sure to take a drive into the Nantahala Gorge for Zip Lining Adventure. There are multiple Outfitters for Zip-lining including Wildwater and Nantahala Outdoor Center which boasts a half-mile Zip-line high above the river below.
